Aloha, I’m Katie.

For me, home has never been just a place—it’s a feeling.

My greatest inspiration comes from traveling the world, wandering through quiet villages, charming boutique hotels, vibrant local markets, and beautiful gardens. Every destination teaches me something about hospitality, thoughtful design, and the simple details that make people feel welcome.

I’m a world traveler, hotelier, hands-on renovator, chef, designer, gardener, and avid reader—and each of these roles quietly shapes every home I create.

When I’m not traveling or working on my homes, you’ll usually find me in the garden, cooking for family and friends, or curled up with a good book. Gardening reminds me that beautiful things take time to grow. Cooking brings people together around the table. Reading opens the door to new places and perspectives. These passions influence every detail, from the atmosphere of a room to the feeling you have when you first walk in.

Each of my retreats—from Sea La Vie to Sealala—is personally designed to capture the feeling I’ve searched for during my own travels: a place that is elegant without being formal, luxurious without feeling extravagant, and peaceful enough that you instantly exhale when you step inside.

The love and kind words from guests at Sea La Vie have been one of the greatest joys of my life. Their happiness and the memories they’ve created here have inspired me to continue growing, designing, and building. It is that joy—shared through every stay—that encouraged me to create Sealala, a new chapter born from the same heart and vision, and an even deeper desire to offer meaningful, beautiful spaces for travelers.

I believe true luxury is found in comfort, authenticity, and thoughtful details. Soft linens after a day in the sun. Morning coffee overlooking the ocean. Fresh flowers on the table. A kitchen ready for a home-cooked meal. A carefully selected guide filled with favorite local places. These are the experiences I hope every guest remembers.

Opening my homes to travelers from around the world is one of life’s greatest joys. My wish is that your stay feels less like renting a vacation home and more like discovering your own private sanctuary in Maui—a place you’ll want to return to year after year.
