With over 600 curves and dozens of one-lane bridges, this legendary drive winds through lush rainforest, waterfalls, bamboo forests, dramatic coastlines, and hidden beaches.

Before You Go:
    •    Start early (6:00–7:00 AM is ideal)
    •    Fill your gas tank the night before
    •    Download offline maps
    •    Bring water, snacks, and a phone charger
    •    Drive slowly and respectfully
    •    Allow a full day
Favorite Stops

    •    Twin Falls

A popular and beautiful jungle stop early on the drive, featuring accessible waterfalls and a local farm stand with fresh tropical treats.
    •    Keʻanae Peninsula

Famous for its dramatic, rugged black lava coastline where massive ocean waves crash against the rocks. Don't miss the famous local banana bread here.
    •    Hana Town

A peaceful, remote Hawaiian village that marks the official end of the highway, offering a glimpse into quiet, traditional island life.
•    Black sand Beach

Located in Waianapanapa State Park, this stunning and unique beach features pitch-black sand contrasted against bright green jungle foliage and deep blue water.

A breathtaking, crescent-shaped beach lined with hala trees, widely considered one of the most beautiful body-surfing beaches in all of Hawaii.
